The ICMR on July 27 invited Expression of Interest (EoI) proposing to hand over virus samples to Indian vaccine manufacturers, pharma companies and in-vitro diagnostics (IVDs) to develop an indigenous vaccine and diagnostic kit.
Meanwhile, a task force has been constituted to closely monitor the increasing cases of monkeypox in the country. The World Health Organization (WHO) recently declared monkeypox as a matter of international concern and declared it a state of global public health emergency.
