The Premier League has given the green light by lawmakers from football to begin rehearsals for substitutions concussion in January ahead of them potentially be introduced at the start of the 2021/22 season permanently. The IFAB [International Football Association Board] have concluded that the safety of the player must become a priority and that a new approach to head injuries is necessary. The changes are set to see introduced additional permanent replacements ” which will give players who have suffered a concussion potential to be carried off the court. The final decision will be made at the annual business meeting of the IFAB in December.
A statement issued by the IFAB read: “Members recommended further consultations, in collaboration with the medical division of FIFA and other interested parties to facilitate trials to begin from January 2021 any competition you are interested in participating.
“The Expert Group concussion [CEG] once again stressed the protection of the players is the main objective and that a clear and uniform approach is needed, which can operate effectively at all levels of the game.
“Therefore, the group agreed that the implementation of a ‘case of doubt, philosophy take the best solution to safeguard the health of the players.”
