8 cases of monkeypox in the country, Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said, ‘Do not be afraid, caution is necessary’

Monkeypox Scar: The danger of monkeypox in the country and the number of people getting positive from it is increasing. So far, a total of 8 people in the country have tested positive for monkeypox. In such a situation, in the Parliament, Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya gave a statement regarding this disease and said that people should not be afraid, information is the only defense.

He further said that the Ministry of Health is continuously running awareness campaigns in collaboration with all the state governments of the country to make people aware about monkeypox. Giving information about monkeypox in Rajya Sabha, Mandaviya said that there is no need to be afraid of monkeypox. We are running awareness campaigns in collaboration with the state governments. It is very important for people to be aware of monkeypox.

Health Ministry constituted task force
The Health Minister said that on behalf of the Government of India, we have constituted a task force under the chairmanship of a member of NITI Aayog. He said that based on the observations of the task force, we will assess and study the further course of action. If the state government of Kerala needs any kind of help from the central government, it will be given.

India started preparations only after the first case came in the world
The Health Minister told the House that when the first case of monkeypox was reported in the world, India had started preparations. The Health Minister said that apart from this, screening of passengers coming from other countries is being done. Apart from this, it has been requested from the governments of those countries from where those travelers are coming that they should send those foreign travelers only after screening.

In fact, on Monday itself, the Ministry of Health has constituted a task force to monitor the cases of monkeypox and take decisions regarding the steps to be taken for the prevention of infection. The task of this task force is to find out the cases of infection in the country.

Who is leading this task force
The decision to constitute the task force was taken in a high-level meeting held on July 26 to review the ongoing public health preparedness in the country. NITI Aayog Member (Health) Dr. VK Paul will lead this task force. The World Health Organization (WHO) has recently declared monkeypox as a global public health emergency. Globally, more than 16,000 cases of monkeypox have been found in 75 countries.
