Expressway News: Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari told Parliament on Wednesday that the government will build 26 Green Expressways in the next three years to improve the country’s road infrastructure, which will give people just two hours. It will help in traveling from Delhi to different places of the country. Gadkari said that NHAI can build five lakh km of roads in a year. He also said that India’s road network will be as good as the United States by 2024. Responding to a supplementary question, the minister said that the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has an AAA rating and there is no paucity of funds.

It will be easy to reach Delhi from every corner of the country

According to the minister, once the projects are completed, people can travel to different places from Delhi in just two hours. People can also travel from Delhi to Amritsar in four hours, Delhi to Katra in six hours, Delhi to Mumbai in 12 hours and Delhi to Bangalore in two hours. He claimed that earlier it used to take 4.5 hours to go from Meerut to Delhi but now people are coming in 40 minutes.

Roads will be like America by 2024

Gadkari had claimed that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi Under his leadership, India’s road infrastructure will be similar to that of the US ahead of the 2024 general elections. He also said that there is no shortage of funds with the government.

Gadkari had earlier launched the Green Expressway Policy in 2015 saying that it would help in making the country pollution free. This will also help in curbing road accidents in the country. He said that the policy aims to provide employment opportunities to local communities and promote greenery of highway corridors. The policy will strike a balance between highway development and environmental protection.

Will build 594 km Ganga Expressway

Gadkari said that there is a big project of the government, the construction of 594 km long Ganga Expressway. Which got environmental clearance last month. After getting the approval, the construction work of the project is expected to start soon. So far, 94% of the land for the six-lane, access-controlled greenfield project has been acquired and all statutory clearances are in hand.
